à In Podcast 183, roles are reversed, as Andrew Pudewaââ¬â¢s guest, Gary Hartenburg, PhD, becomes the interviewer and Andrew the interviewee. Dr. Hartenburg is the director of the Honors College at Houston Baptist University and works with students in that program as well as in his role as an assistant professor in the Philosophy Department. If you have ever wondered how well IEW students respond to testing and/or assessment, this is a great podcast to listen to. Dr. Hartenburg addresses questions to Andrew regarding many aspects of the process, including what it means to give feedback to students, what aspects of the feedback process are unique to writing, what is good writing and how can we recognize it, what is the best way to give feedback to students, and how can we provide that feedback in a concise yet meaningful manner. To say that this episode is packed with wisdom for teachers of writing is an understatement. There is much wealth to be mined that will help you approach your teaching with a clearer vision of how IEW can equip your students to be effective communicators during their formative school years and beyond.
